I'm a big fan of Exact Editions, mainly for their great iPhone app, Exactly. Exact Editions puts magazines online looking exactly as they do in print (only with clickable links and great viewing functionality). Browsing the catalogue today, I was pleased to see a growing number of good-looking magazines on and from Africa.

• BBC Focus on Africa Magazine (though BBC coverage of African issues often reads like the diaries of a skittish foreigner)

• African Prospects
• African Business

I hope there are others I haven't found yet.

I get almost irrationally pleased when I see publishers of African material using best-practice tech to reach international audiences in and beyond the continent. I shouldn't get all excited about it, because it should be obvious and commonplace. Soon, though, it will be very ordinary, and I look forward to that day.
